Sox’s Gran Coupe
Purchased this 1970 Cuda Gran coupe here in North Carolina from Todd Vanada. Car was given to Ronnie Sox when new as part of his Chrysler contract.
Ronnie and Buddy Martin each received a new car every year. In 1970 Ronnie requested this Cuda. 383 , 727 , Power windows , P/S , P/B , Gran coupe with overhead console , leather interior , AM – 8 Track , Ronnie installed the Shaker hood , dual cut out rear valance and other items swiped from a Hemi Cuda sent to Sox & Martin to be used to build their first Pro stock car. 1970 was the first year of pro stock.
Ronnie had this car painted Candy Apple red over a gold basecoat and installed Keystone classic wheels. Herb McCandless told me it was Burlington North Carolinas most beautiful car at that time. Buddy Martin requested and received a 1970 Cuda with a rare U code 440 Magnum with a Black exterior.
I restored this car myself , stripped it to bare metal and went with the factory red and of course did a Hemi swap. Big old Hooker Headers , Frank Lupo did the 727 with a manual valvebody and one of Franks incredible torque convertors. I sold the car to pay for machine shop equipment.
I had a lot of fun tearing up the countryside in South Carolina with this Cuda.
